LIFE IS GOOD

2 min read
Okay, I have no money at the moment
But who cares
CAUSE I GOT ARCTIC MONKEYS TICKETS
I cried
I shook
I squealed like a stuck pig
But I'm happy.

So, my year is made:
Swim deep - 17th September
Arctic Monkeys - 23rd October
(maybe) Family Rain - 23rd November

I've also kinda become a little gig organiser for my dad. I get hold of bands and get them to play at the pub. I'm currently on to getting Catfish and the Bottlemen, Who are SO SO SO underated. They're unbelievable talented and it hurts me to see them getting little airplay. However, they're currently at LEEDS FEST!

I've decided that Fine art will be my future. My AS results were as follows:
Art - A
Photography - A (100%)
Chemistry - B
Biology - C
I think I might be dropping Biology... But I'm unsure.

I'm interested in applying to the following Universities (requirements in brackets):
Goldsmiths (unknown)
Slade (ABB)
UCL (ABB)
MMU (280 points)
Lancaster (AAB)

Then I need to research Glasgow, Leeds and a few more.
Any suggestions for FINE ART or PHOTOGRAPHY will be greatly appreciated :) I'm aiming for a place in London as the access to galleries and other artists is phenomenal!

AUGUST UPDATE

3 min read
I did a cyanotype workshop with a local photographer last wednesday and he really liked the work I produced... In fact, I even liked the work I produced I based it around the becoming of man via evolution from the apes.

This Thursday's workshop is going to be about installations
--

I'm supposed to be saving up for all of the gigs I'm going to this year... I've worked out a saving plan and broken it down, let me know if you're going to any too!

Swim Deep - Manchester, The Ritz (17th September)
Ticket - £13 (Paid)
Travel - £30 (for train/less if lift is available)
Merch - £20-£40
Need to save a total of £70

(Undecided) Vampire Weekend - Manchester, Phones 4 u academy (17th November)
Ticket - £32
Travel - £30 (for train/less if lift is available)
Merch - £20
Need to save a total of £82

The Family Rain - Birmingham, The institute (23rd November)
Coach (return) - £25
Accomadation - £15
Food - £10
Ticket - £10
Merch - £20
Need to save a total of £80

All together I need to save £232 but tickets need to be booked in September...
So, I need £140 early september which shouldn't be too difficult...

However,
--
Tomorrow, I'm off to Llandudno to try and get microdermal piercings on my wrists, hopefully they'll do it on a walk in, if not, I'll have to book an appointment and go another time...
I'm guessing the piercings themselves will cost about £60 and then I need to pay for the bus there...
--

The funny thing is I've now got a second job, with my dad working in his pub, but my sister doesn't have a job so she gets most of the spare hours there so I only get the odd shift. It pays £5 an hour and the shifts are about 5 hours long which is so much nicer than my £4 an hour job in Oriel with 8/9 hour shifts (sometimes 10!) You even get bonus pay on busy nights... Over the eisteddfod I worked 4 nights in a row (only small shifts), and earned £80, then got an extra £18 bonus! So I got £98 for 16 hours work when I'd only get £64 for that in oriel.

However, I'm looking for a new job because Oriel is becoming a hard place to be in, there's been money missing out of the till for weeks now and they haven't found out who/why yet, so everyone is a suspect and we're getting treated like children/criminals... whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty? Thankfully, after my shift on Saturday the till was actually UP by a couple of pounds so the staff that worked saturday morning are clear! (hopefully)

Y NOT festival was amazing. Met so many great people, met The Family Rain and I'm meeting up with the Londoners I met at the festival, in Birmingham in November to see the Family Rain Again.
--

I've started working for my dad, it's a lot nicer than my other job, I might quit my other job as they won't give me shifts because I went to the festival which is a bit petty...
I also get better hourly pay, regular pay bonuses and shorter but more often shifts (Tonight is my third shift in a row and They're only about 5 hours long!) so I get £25 for 5 hours when I'd have to work 7 hours at oriel for the same amount and I didn't get breaks, drinks or food at oriel, I get it all at the pub! :D
--

Yesterday I did a Ceramics masterclass with an artist called Pea J. Renstall. I made 2 little twisted faces that I'm really proud of, she also liked them, I just need to fire them in a few weeks and glaze them then they'll be finished :)

SUMMER

2 min read
So we've had AMAZING weather here in Wales for the past month, I think 34 degrees was our highest temperature ( thats about 93 fahrenheit if you're not used to celcius). Our usual summer temperatures are about 20 degrees, so this is serious stuff for us.

However, yesterday it poured down at about 10pm and rained through the night :(

Weather is about 25 degrees today, sunny but cloudy at times.

I'm off to the peak district in 7 days for 'Y NOT Festival' in Matlock. Any of you going? It's my first ever festival and my first ever time in a tent. It will also be my first ever time on a train! My only problem with the situation is a lack of showers over the weekend as it's 5 days long... I'll have to fight to get atleast one shower or I will probably have to cry myself to sleep!

I'll get to see some amazing bands such as:
*Nizlopi
*Mystery Jets
*The Struts
*The Horrors
*Swim deep (SWIIIIIM DEEEEEEEEEEEEP!)
*Kids in Glass Houses
*The 1975 ( AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!)
*Deaf Havana
*The Cribs
*We Were Promised Jetpacks
*Toy
*The Twang
*Lewis Watson
*The Enemy
* Dry The River
* The Darkness

And hopefully many new bands too.

--

I've booked Swim Deep tickets for manchester! So excited already! :)

--

Have a lovely summer everyone!

I've been waiting three years to get Arctic monkeys tickets, I can't wait another 2 years for another UK tour...
I've been trying all day to get 2 tickets, sitting/standing anywhere, and I failed.

If anyone hears of/knows of someone selling tickets, please can you let me know and I'll pass on some contact details, I need 2, will pay up to £40 for each ticket, depending on standing/seated.

Thank you!
